Standing at NYC’s R train - 23rd street station, noticing how truly distasteful subway advertisements are. As much of a forum as public bathroom stalls are, advertisements line the tarnished tunnels, inviting profanities and obscenities of all shapes and sizes on celebrity faces, so why don’t we trash em’?
This station was a true gem, featuring hats of all shapes and sizes, with tiny decals referencing who was represented by each hat—A Barrymore decendent, a painter, a philosopher, etc. were all represented by beautiful gradients of contrasting mosaic-style tile.
I think it’s time I let the MTA know, I’d much rather see murals, art, and photography (OH MY!), than an ad for the “Change Up” any day, what about you?
